GARDE is based on interaction with the community and transparency in communication between the institutions involved and local actors. The development of our projects is focused on technology for disaster risk reduction, opening spaces for dialogue with academia, government representatives, private companies and communities. 

We have established partnerships with public and private institutions that work in the state of the art in the development and execution of activities related to our scope, which optimizes and enhances the generation of joint products with high cost-benefit, always seeking an innovative and differentiated character.

Environmental and socioeconomic diagnosis of the mountainous region of the State of Rio de Janeiro with the development of a dynamic and interactive digital platform to improve socio-environmental and territorial management, with indicators of environmental and socioeconomic vulnerability zones and mitigation and adaptation initiatives.

Microscale weather and flood forecasting system for the Serrana Region aimed at applications at risk of disasters and family and small-scale agriculture;

Real-time weather data collection system customized for the mountain region for data assimilation in the forecast model;

Customization of software for modeling basins and drainage, fluvial flow, estimation and forecasting of floods;

Satellite hillside monitoring, aimed at preventing mass landslides;

Computational Modeling of Pollutant Dynamics for monitoring nutrients and micro plastics in river and marine environments.

Social and Environmental Workshops: Courses on Environmental Management and Community Resilience in partnership with schools and technological institutes.

Initiatives

GARDE activities are directed towards projects that prevent natural disasters or aim at the recovery of the environment. We believe that resilience and the ability of a community to reestablish in a sustainable manner are vital to achieving an egalitarian social development. To meet our goals, we operate in five areas aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals.
