Global Association for Resilience, Disaster risk reduction and Environment

 

GARDE "Global Association for Resilience, Disaster risk reduction and Environment" is a non-governmental, non-profit organization whose purpose is to develop, implement and support environmental and socio-environmental projects.

GARDE's objectives are:

  • Carry out monitoring activities to reduce the risks of environmental disasters generated by natural processes or by anthropic action and amplify the resilience of impacted communities
  • Elaboration of studies and projects on climate change with an emphasis on the identification of adaptation strategies to these changes;
  • Development of initiatives aimed at increasing the use of renewable energies and environmental preservation;
  • Generation of reliable information which allows the prediction of events with potential environmental risk, based on the incentive to sustainable socioeconomic initiatives.
  • Development of socio-environmental and socio-economic projects aimed at the sustainable development of communities, with a special focus on the participation of ethnic and gender minorities.

With global action, GARDE intends to unite society, governments and private initiative to encourage the development and use of sustainable practices for the benefit of social justice, security and society integration with the environment

Francisco Celso Ponte Filho

President

Graduated in Geology from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBa), Brazil in 1988. Master in Geosciences with specialization in Regional Geology, by the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP - Rio Claro), Brazil in 1996.

Alexandre Pereira Cabral

Technical Director

Graduated in Oceanology from the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG), Brazil in 1988. Master in Remote Sensing, by the National Institute of Space Research (INPE) (São José dos Campos-SP), Brazil in 1993. DSc (ongoing) in Coastal and Oceanic Systems at the Center for Studies (CEM) of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Brazil

Camila Macedo Ponte

Administrative Director

Graduated in International Management by the University of Deggendorf, Germany in 2013. Master in Normatization, Social Regulation and Sustainable Development at the University of Geneva, Switzerland.

 

Francisco Celso Macedo Ponte

Marketing Director

Graduated in Graphic Design from Gestalt Studies Center, Veracruz, Mexico in 2011.

 

Juliana Cabral

Graduada em Ciências Biológicas Licenciatura pela Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (Unirio). Trabalhou na área de biologia molecular pelo Instituto de Pesquisa do Jardim Botânico (JBRJ), atuou também na área de agronomia, especificamente em projetos sobre sequestro de carbono, na Embrapa Solos do Rio de Janeiro. Possui experiência com técnicas laboratoriais, análises estatísticas e atividades de divulgação ambiental. Na GARDE, Juliana é consultora pro bono em gestão de mídias sociais.
